BENEFITS:
Within the Framework of the IPA 2020 program Democracy and Governance, there is a project of the Customs Administration named “Implementation of Automated Import System (AIS), Automated Export System (AES) and Customs Decision Management System (CDS)”. This project, worth 9 million euros, also known as “eCustoms”, represents a crucial step towards complete digitalization of customs operations in the Republic of Serbia.
In collaboration with the relevant Ministry and with the financial support of the European Union, the Customs Administration implements this initiative in order to bring the efficiency of customs procedures to the level of developed countries.
The prerequisites for that are:
Alignment with EU standards
Harmonization with European standards enables easier trade with EU members, which opens new doors for the export and import of goods and services. It is essential for business entities that want to expand their activities to the European market. In this way, the predictability and efficiency of operations increases and enables foreign trade companies to precisely plan and execute their customs obligations, reducing the risk of unforeseen costs or delays in transport.
Therefore, the "eCustoms" project is not only about technical modernization, but also about creating a favorable environment for trade and investment. Through harmonization with European standards, the Republic of Serbia lays the foundation for sustainable economic growth, opens doors for new trade opportunities and strengthens its role of reliable partner in the international environment.
Benefits for the business community
By automating import and export systems, as well as customs decision-making systems, customs procedures become faster, more precise and less prone to human error. The Customs Administration will process all the necessary information and documentation faster and more accurately, thus reducing both the waiting time at the border and the costs of doing business.
Support and funding
The project is financed by the European Union, and it is implemented by the Ministry of Finance - Department for Contracting and Financing of European Union funded programs and the Customs Administration of Serbia. The implementation of the project, which consists of three contracts, is entrusted to consortia led by Seyfor, Comtrade and Ernst&Young:
